Vacation

Grandma and I went to the beach this last weekend to spend a few days relaxing.

It was cold outside, but we enjoyed our walks and we had a balcony facing the ocean. We would open the door, crank up the gas fireplace and watch and listen to the surf.  I don’t know what is so enchanting about the surf, similar to a campfire I believe but I could stare for a long time and get lost in the pounding of the surf.

Newport was a good area to visit in December, not too crowded and most of the shops were open to sightsee.

We stopped at a place called MOs for lunch and the food was very good and cheap. I had fish and chips and grandma had seafood “something” (Lots of seafood in a spicy sauce). It was good and filling.

The inn we stayed at was very expensive, 200+ a night for the regular price. It was ok; the TV remote worked part of the time, the sink dripped it you did not turn the handle just the right way and they did serve salmon chowder and cookies each night. Breakfast was pretty normal for an average hotel continental breakfast. The real joy was the view and I that is what we were wanting.

We stopped at a park near whale Cove and watch the ocean for a while, it was a rocky, no beach, drop to the deep water and the ocean pounded the rocks. We could see the sea lions floating around looking for food. Quite a view…
